Submitting an Employment Equity report to the Department of Labour annually is mandatory for companies under the Employment Equity Act as they exceed certain thresholds. These thresholds are reached when a company either employ 50 people or more or if their annual turnover exceeds a certain amount depending on the industry they operate in.

If your company is required to submit an Employment Equity Report and there is no proof of submission available you cannot be allocated any point under
Management Control on your scorecard. The Employment Equity submission window to submit these EEA2 and EEA4 forms normally open in the latter part of the year with electronic submissions open up to early in January.

In conjunction with the submission of an Employment Equity Report companies also need to comply to the Skills Development Act to score points under skills development that requires:
– Registration with your relevant SETA
– SETA approved Workplace Skills Plan, Annual training Report and Pivotal Training Report.
– Implementation of programs for priority skills.
